MANAGING PROJECTS

Projects represent nonroutine business activities that often have long-term strategic ramifications for a firm. Economics and Business Decision Making

Decision making is at the heart of economics.
Millions of decisions are made every day by consumers and these decisions affect businesses in different ways.
Businesses have to make decisions every day as well and these focus on three main areas. Decisions on: investment, growth and expansion, acquiring and keeping customers.
Assessing the value of the costs and benefits is a basis for making decisions.
If the value of the benefits is greater than the value of the costs then the decision can be justified.
It is not always easy to quantify the value of all the costs and benefits in making a decision.
Neuroscience is revealing new ways in which people and businesses make decisions which may not always reflect a rational decision based on the value of costs and benefits.
